You Herd? Short is the new long
Week 4 -- March 17th, 2025
Can someone pls explain why so many incredible songs are like 1min long? Theme of the week is short & sweet I guess, with the average length of these 3 songs being a whopping 1:56. Everyone go tell Sam Gellaitry, Justend, and MXXWLL to make these gems longer so I don’t have to hit replay a thousand times.

What caught my ear
Justend recently dropped a new album and I’ll be honest - not my favorite. Buuuut, listening to it did remind me why I followed him a couple months ago: this incredible tune. The beautiful melodic writing, his laidback vocal style, and a super warm bass that hugs your hearing receptors like fuzzy earmuffs… I’ve already replayed it like 3x since I started writing this paragraph.

What caught my ear
Australian R&B/electronic producer MXXWLL takes on house music… and absolutely nails it. I can’t stop bobbing my head to this unbeatable groove (pun intended) and modern spin on classic house drums, bass, and synths. If you like this, give all of his recent releases a whirl - guy’s on a tear rn.

What caught my ear
This one is technically not new (to me or the world), but I just had to share. If you don’t already know Sam Gellaitry, I am so excited for this to be your introduction. His songwriting is off the charts; I can pretty much guarantee this will be stuck in your head for the rest of the week (sorry not sorry). I don’t usually fw songs that are stripped down to just voice + one instrument, but my hat is off. You fucking killed this Sam.
