Herd It: From My Ears to Yours
Week 1 -- Feb. 24th, 2025
Hey all - welcome to the first edition of my weekly newsletter to help people find great new music. This idea was inspired by two conversations I had last week (shoutout Jack & Sam!) in which the following was brought to my attention: a lot of people don’t know how or where to discover great songs. And this makes them fall out of love with music, even if it’s just a little bit.
That makes me really sad, but I totally get it - looking for new songs is actually a lot of effort. Streaming platform recommendation algorithms are mediocre on their best days, Instagram & TikTok really only push the popular stuff, and most people don’t have the time or know-how to go crate digging on their own.
BUT luckily for you guys, I am obsessed with finding new music. idek how many hours I’ve spent sifting through SoundCloud, Bandcamp, Twitter, and every other unsuspecting corner of the internet to find exciting new music. Now, it’s time to get obsessed with sharing that music.
Here’s the gist: every Monday, I will send you an email that has 3 new songs I found over the course of the week. The music will vary a lot - different genres, artists, etc. but I’ll leave a little note for every song explaining why I liked it.
If you have any opinions, reactions, feedback, or crazy ideas you want to share, pls hit me up. I rly want to hear what you think. Without further a due, here are your songs:

What caught my ear
Maysev’s entire discography is proof that music can be both technically impressive and make you want to get up and jump around. This rock-meets-dnb banger features a gnarly rolling bass that sounds like a giant knocking on your bedroom door. Oh and listen to the part at 1:41 - that bass slide rly hits the fkn spot

What caught my ear
The verse makes you think you’re going to get a big, expansive chorus but it actually drops away into a gentle, muted kick & snare with Graham Jonson’s heavenly vocals floating on top. The raw indie-esque production and phenomenal melodies + songwriting make this one feel like an instant classic

What caught my ear
Imagine if Kendrick’s “Count Me Out” was produced by a Brazilian jazz enthusiast who makes top-notch rap beats for fun. Enough said, really. Go listen right now (much more aprovoli to come btw - this Greek beatmaster is on another level)
If you have any feedback, recommendations for songs I should check out, or just want to talk more about any of these songs/artists, please feel free to shoot me a text or just reply to this email
